Torn between the two worlds...

I can't imagine the time when we were free , free to move, free to travel, free to do a lot of things which we rather took otherwise, then there came a time when you wish for all those simple things to occur to you which you didn't even bother about so much ! (Irony)

Living in a country other than your own, comes with benefits but also have their own set of cons. While we constantly evaluate them , one always finds the grass greener back home ( classic cliché isn't it). Having said all of the above , its been 2 years that I visited my country and almost that many years of having visited my parents and in-laws (because of the travel bans and other regulations)

So every year as soon as the scorching summer arrives in the Middle East it is  the time we splurge to plan  to go home and the summer holidays just aligns with plan. Hence next three months are  well placed back home, where things are easy not because it is my country but the thing that we are not solely responsible for the chores (well largely!)

The arrival back home for holidays is no less than a celebration and we all rejoice mutually. Parents are always overwhelmed  to have us and the kids around and then even we are carefree that they are learning in a different way with their grandparents ( we always believe as humans that we definitely learn with the change in place and circumstance)

The feeling described above is very well understood by all the women who go to stay at their parent's house every year during holidays but believe me you just have to triple that feeling to know how it feels to be back home from a foreign land, although there are no extremities and Infact an easier life  but still the satisfaction just soars in lieu of our motherland.

As I mentioned its been 2 years that we have been to my parent's place, I feel nostalgic not only by listening to the news that the monsoons has arrived in India or the pictures of the street food we come across on Insta, and every little thing or memory associated with the summer holidays. Its like an yearly ritual that we hook upon and now it just feels empty.

We are into a pandemic and even more serious situation with the onset of the Kids' Summer Holidays starting this weekend (as it's tedious to keep them busy within the four walls), it is also that same time when we travel to India every year with numerous plans and plethora of smiles . Always torn between these two worlds of residence and roots that we overlap a lot many problems entwining them both .

This period in mankind is certainly going down in the history and so will go the agony of not been able to visit home, the deprivation of not being able to spend the fragile and naïve years of kids' childhood with their grandparents. We are not only loosing sanity but a time to connect and care , torn between the two worlds where I want to be and where I should be!

The very "First Love"

The things we find most unconventionally and unexpectedly always make home in our heart,
So while I try to forget them all, I live with them everyday.
The deep brown eyes setting on me for the first time,
A warm pat saying that you will always watch my back.
The honest smile which always melted my heart,
Holding hands like we will never part.
The plans of lifetime in a wink of a eye,
That's how the first love feels like!
The reassurance of constantly staying beside,
Pampering me with all the little things I like.
Tackling all my mood swings and tantrum,
I was a tireless person  always with high thrum.
Never ending last 5 minutes before hanging up the phone,
All the cute texts in our newly found language like never before.
Feeling of being safe with you whenever you were around,
My first love never let me land my feet on the ground.
Always walking an extra mile whenever you could only for me,
It felt nothing less than Heaven when you were with me.
You brought the best in me, and you set me free,
Encouraging me to fly to the peak and calming down my spree.
You were more of a feeling than a person to me,
Where I felt the most happy and home as I can be.
A hopeless romantic, and someone who can go to lengths for the one you love,
I will always remember our honest and comforting "First Love".

Nothing like before

Unanticipatedly the whole  formula of  living changed swiftly! Things which were important are somehow negligible and the things which were not given much importance are now a luxury.Imagine how much we took people, things and surroundings for granted, until all this happened we were still grasped in the cliched petty issues whether about relationship, work or certain friendship.

Now all the jealousy, competition, branded shopping, travel flaunt is put to a full stop, just to save ourselves! So basically we were living a materialistic life until the outbreak and one fine day the switch got reversed  confining us to our home to save lives! This proves that afterall we started running this race for supporting our daily life only and somehow  got jumbled up with all the flashes and frills while running and forgot the basic goal of why we were running so fast? To introspect then and now everything looks so tiny and meaningless.

The selfies with friends have become a a mere screenshots of numerous video calls, the instagram has become more of a stage to showcase your hobbies instead of being a market place. Virtual travel trips are a new thing, schools and students are struggling with online classes. Netflix has become a trend and a way to kill the boredom. Restaurants are a far fetched thing and cooking at home and putting up the videos are the "in" things.  News channels have no other topic than the current situation, and curfew is the new way of our daily routines. Quarantine and lockdown are the most used words on the internet. Hugs and kisses are being missed , coffee shops are now treasured the most after toilet paper (lol) malls and movie theatres are not even in the list of "places to be" and everything is zeroed down to existence and storage of daily necessities ( how ironic!)

Still missing the larger picture of what perilous situation we are dealing with; Everyone is trying hard, really hard to be as they were before but it will take time to settle with everyone that world is never going to be the same..and gradually we will learn to live in a new found way with sources available on our disposals.

Just Stay

Stand as a rock with me , I need your hand in mine..
These winds are harsh for me alone to survive...
I will need u in darkness, I will need you in sunshine..
Stay along with me,bear me for a little more time..
I know i have no worth against your shine
But i will still hop along waiting for you to align..
I am not as strong as I look..i too look around for familiar smile..
I might sound confident, i may look proud but without you I can't even rise.
Thoughts are numerous and words are very few to define,
What your presence mean to me and where you stand in my life..
You are the morning's first ray which gives me energy to suffice..
With you i can conquer the world and bypass any rough tide.
Stand by me , i am weak without you ,you make and break me...so please put with me because i say it very few time.
Just stay !

Parenting - The second time

When my first one was born i was on the cloud 9 you know that excitement to become the parents for the very first time, you want be the perfect with all the firsts .Starting from feeding them till umpteen number of hours, reading story books, making them brush twice, teaching them all the GK they can like shapes ..numbers..letters,getting them all kind of toys, loading them with the newest fashion, you know like you want to be a perfect parent.
Then after you complete all the cliched cycles of potty training, breastfeeding, terrible twos ,teething and cleaning all the pukes and poops in between as you come out of the first time mommy depression ,thats when you think that the your first born needs a company and then you get into this vicious circle of parenting the second time.. and believe me there lies a trap!
My second one came when my first one  was 3.3 years old, and it was damn tough for me...although many people do in a much lesser difference than this but God only knows how they manage... so now i had two little boy bunches with my handsful i set on a brigade called motherhood..by the way the word 'Mother' has an army on its own...where somehow you get super powers of Hindu Goddesses like spinning on your feet around the kids with 2 hands working like 10 extended hands in one single day around varied tasks..
When my second one arrived we were on cloud 9 again....it felt complete and enticing .First few months were like a honeymoon ...i  loved to cuddle and snuggle the baby...because i knew that the time will fly and he will outgrow my lap...as the time went i  learnt so much ; my second one is  a much difficult child...he would regress to sleep..eat and pacify. But that stage also passed on with a hope of a better tommorow..
Then came a time when my first one started his preschool and the younger one started walking it was a chaos with whom to handle first and then you learn the art of attending them on single turn basis...but come on my elder one was just 4 how could i expect him to be that understanding but he did...he somehow got matured by the face of the situations...
As the time went my elder one was 5 and the younger one was 1.5 there were different hardships but we had fun as a team! My younger one was teething...trying to talk...trying to eat  on his own while my elder one was learning languages (read and write) at school..i could somehow manage to catch up with my nap and other interests when my younger one used to sleep ( which was hardly an hour with a gap of every 10 min in between to put him to sleep all over again) and i learnt how to manage ...my time and theirs...believe me even 24 hours seem less to me even now..
So today my elder one is 6 and the younger one  is 2.9 and the challenges have multiplied now i know what it is to be a mother of two boys...fighting for the same toy , tv remote (switching between baby tv and Nickelodeon) and numerous other things ...where you cant choose side and the gyan of sharing doesn't suffice...but i get more time of my own as the younger one goes to a play school but he still keeps me on toes..his cuddles are amazing, the way he just circles around me the whole day is flattering and annoying at the same time...
There are days of disagreement, scolding, frustration, wearout but when they both are not around even for 2 hours i miss them alot..they are more of my buddies than my boys..everyday i am learning patience, compassion ,being a listener,a referee ,a pacifier and still holding my senses together at the end of the day..watching them sleep brings a smile on my face with a full day's flashback.
But i must confess that the second time parenting is much of a cheating than the first one..the efforts are definitely less..the dedication is reduced because you have two to look forward too ... but the younger siblings still are always smarter, they learn quicker and  know their way out and the irony is you know it as a parent but still you don't do much about it..you just pass it on...being a more stronger ,smarter parent.

Labelling the Intentions

Oh how i wish if God had this technology of our times at the creation stage so that he could have fitted us all with a small LED chip on the forehead mentioning the intention in the head!
Imagine the small LED strip to flash the intention you have in your mind when you speak to anyone...everything would have been transparent and clear with no grudges and expectations!
Intentions are so easily misjudged sometimes they are too much over the top and sometimes are stingrays..and sometimes you just make fool of yourself with all the varied notions in ur mind.
Sometimes because of these intentions the whole equation changes..like for example the people you know from the longest time cannot connect to you but sometimes the recent relationships click so well. The genuineness is hard to find in these misprojected intentions.
Devoid of this LED strip we can only hope to go by our heart and our deep instinct in a relationship and that might keep us away from all the fake and destructive intentions!

Click-o-logy

Have you ever noticed that there are some people we just get attached to in a brief conversation and then there are some with whom we take years to connect...and then there are times where  we misjudge the friendships! We really do, misconception about a person hinders our attraction or fondness towards that person and instead of choosing the right one,we just choose the limelight one and then that kind of friendship doesnt lasts long.
Ever wondered  how in a short span of time the frequency matches. It feels as if you have known the person for years or like your words are filled in their mouth ( I mean she is just like me )sometimes the likemindedness, similar experiences, similar situations or similar choices connects you to the other person's stigma.
I am totally a people's person and i believe strongest bond relationships in everyday life, imprinting a  mark is the best thing can be done in one's life
Without a companion life goes rough but without a likeminded person it just goes wasted.
Met someone recently or years ago with the conversation which ignites a spark in your mind leaving you with the joy of talking onl!y that is the one who will carry your loads off and will bring out the best in you..don't evwr let them go off your radar and treasure them for life.

Maa..

Maa tere bina kuch nahi achcha lagta yaha..
Na tere haathon ke garam fulke hai na aanchal ki thandi chaaon hai yaha..
Na teri daant ki bouchaar hai na hi pyaar bhari baahein hai yaha..
Yaad aatein hai woh bachpan ke din jab beparwah tha mera jahan
Na thi koi chinta..na hi koi bandish kyunki tum thi na maa waha...
Jo tumne di woh har ek seekh ka matlab aaj hai samajh aaya yaha..
Woh school se aaker bag phekna...woh har ek baat per tumse behas karna...woh naatak jo sirf tum hi jhel paati thi maa..
Bachpan se meri har choti cheez ko tumne hai sanjhoya... Chahe rona ho, chaahe zidd puri karani ho..chahe daddy ko manana ho...tum hi thi meri jaadu ki chadi waha..
Jab khud maa bana to jana ki kitna sangarsh kara hai har pal tumne maa...woh har ek raat jo tum ho jagi aur jo har woh din jab meine tumhe sataya par tumne kuch na kahaa..
Aaj bhi jab bhi hota hai kuch naya banana..ya hota hai dil ka bhoj utaarana...ya hoti hai koi salah ki zarurat, tum hi dikhai deti ho har jagaah..
Tumse hi hoti hai har ek ichcha puri aaj bhi...aur tum hi ho prerna meri zindagi ki..Kitna bhi shukriya karu tumhe woh kam hai...tumse achcha koi nahi aur mujhe garv hai ki tum ho MERI MAA...

The first hand second time MOMMY experience

Ok ok...I dnt recieve calls...I dont make calls...I m totally lost with my thoughts and uttetly forgetful because I am a new MOM! And its like becoming a first time Mumma all over again with bag full of tantrums and arms full of hugs.
The stork visited and gifted us our new bundle of joy...a baby boy! We waited for him for all 9 months..eagerly to cuddle and hug him for hours together..
Although my first born is 3.5 years old so the experience was not that old still this was like the first time ever again....its true you think since you have dealt with it ...its going to be much easier but every child is different and so is happening with us...
The nights seem longer and the days busier, we knew its not going to be easy and were fueled about the same from all the people  around..and it is tough and everyday is a new day with so much learning...to make the elder one comfortable and compatible with the baby...struggling with my own body..at the same time looking around the household chores and playing with my attention seeking preschooler! The most amusing thing being a mother is the fact that when I want to sleep the most my boys want to play the most...when I am free to play with them like while writing this now they are fast asleep....when I want to eat then only they remember their potty business...when I am very busy they seek my attention the most...as soon as I step in my shower one of them cries for no reason...when I am expecting to behave their best is where they test my patience...

Believe me its more than a handful and overwhelming , still worth it, worth the experience of watching them grow day by day...life is not personal anymore neither are the hobbies more engaging..so much to look forward to in a day that your stuff gets a setback. By the word your stuff I mean that that stuff can wait, and a lot of other things cannot .
Life has a new address...a new direction...a new challenge and there is so much to learn in this thankless stay at home mom's job. I am doing it for myself and these kiddos of mine...they say that early 5 years of child's life is very crucial and fudamental for their brain's architecture , it directly impacts their personal and social behaviour...so I m trying to put whatever I have in me to shape them..
The warmth, the gurgles, the smile, the cuddles are totally worth it although both of them are giving me a heck of a time...but at the end of it everything is upto my heart's content...Absolutely thrilled and loving this first hand second experience of mine.

The last dusk of 2014

Again the clock is ticking....
Another moment of goodbye...
A new year to start with...
Lot of moments on standby...

My wats app is flooded with people saying sorry and thank u for whatever they have done in 2014... and also advices of all sorts on how to start the new year....what to enjoy the best and neglect the worst. Phew!

People who were not even the part of my life in 2014 have also texted me regarding the way to live...thanks to whats app otherwise people would have literally faded from our lives!  But on rethinking I came across a thought of why all concerns at the end of anything when its the time to depart?  Realisation only sunks in with the end ...even self actualisation for that matter. On the last dusk of 2014 we are guilty..sorry and what not about the damn year however as the night will fall the  party is definitely going to be on (what an irony)

Of whatever promises and resolution people make for the new year doesnt last till the end of January itself because we know its a beginning and we have ample of time for all of that clutter, soon it becomes a habit, the year flies with the conclusion of sorrys and thankyous to everyone at the last dusk of the year.
I am not being offensive..I love such wishes  and messages from friends and acquaintances but I have a heart filled with remorse for a lot of things and excited about a few too with this last dusk of the scraming year.

Gathering the thoughts hustling in my mind and a bag of mixed feeling attached along for 2014,I hope that the dawn of the new year brings miracle..fulfill wishes and proves the best for each one of us. The resolutions you are sticking to should stay with you till the year end ,what about me ?  The only resolution I  want to make for myself  is  to stay happy and connected with my loved ones always:) Cheers to 2015...

The hatrick year...my son is 3 today!

Years are flying and u are getting older by the day...it started with pampers , bottles and booties and reached to "I want to do it on my own" statement! You have grown so much that u hardly fit my arms...
Your every act has its own charm...whether it is opening fridge for taking out your favourite yogurt...or helping me with stacking the groceries...the way u dance and sing your heart out....your inclination to music....your love for reading books...your saying "mumma don't cry I love u" ....watching the ugliest of the shows on tv with me...wearing cap, goggles to any kind of outing (whether party or beach...lol), the way u are particular to wear a specific tshirt...or your deep affection to your night suits...the way u blabber hindi perfectly nowadays....and trick n woe me to download apps for your ipad...
You have truly engrossed my life and have given it a meaning, its just been three years and I dont remember any other reason for being that much happy earlier...
With you the sun is more brighter, moon is much calmer, stars are more shiner, life is much better, you complete us fully...sweetheart ! Continue with building up your charisma and bubble our lives like this till eternity.

Transcending trails...

There were lots of thing to prove n achieve..
A time when every dream of mine used to scream
All of that went away through a sling...
I now realize...i m fond of and  have kept aside alot of things
Hopes...dreams....and all my cravings are now being fulfilled by a quick crying...
Women hood teaches us a lot to hold up the family string...
From being a aspirant gal to a "mommy being"
With all the things said and done...one thing stands true...
Nothing can be replaced by the feeling of being a mom and all what it gives to u...
We wake with them...walk with them..talk with them...eat with them...sing with them even get sick with them....
The twinkle in his eye...the mis pronounced sweet blabber...the sly smile...all the tantrums and the crying session which does not end...
It makes u tired...mad...n frustrated too...
But nothing can be as special as experiencing it and being going thru...
The aspirations has new wings and a new fly to plan ..
To reach to destinations which all my mother hood can..
And what is left behind is an untold story of a gal which will be rewritten in another way....
The desires n achievements shape themselves along the line...
U take them with u and they stay by your side...
Live it the best coz the childhood of ur child can't be repeated but ur aspirations can abide...
Proving urself to the world is another story....
Whether u take a leap in ur career or ur household...
No one would ever agree to any theory...
So just be the way you like...submerged in your way of life...living it fullest with urself n ur offspring that's all will be imbibed for years to come in your memory

Infuse Appreciation

How often we say thanks for being there to someone we love...
How often do we appreciate the efforts and love...
How often do we realize the importance of saying i love u....
We r so into ourselves that we hardly realise!
Gone are the days when there was no technology..atleast there was time for  emotions and value of ppl around....
I strongly feel that a few words can also prove mightier to hold relationships, and if in praise nothing like it..
Try n inculcate, infuse appreciation whether for ur family, friends or for a random stranger ....believe me u will feel good...i  trying this for sure...

Be cognizant of contentment

Years ago when i was in school...we had a special school and hostel for deaf and dumb adjacent to my school...
As kids we were afraid of the noises they made when we played in the playground ....from the adjacent buildings ...as those special kids had only the way out to communicate was to make loud noises..
We used to ignore the noise and used to eat our favourite food filled tiffins...enjoying our annual function..sports...mere fights and making best of frenship ( oh u know how that age is)
We never paid attention rather ignore those special kids...today after so many years when i went to that special school for a little charity... i realized the contentment of those kids....
Even after their vital senses were absent they were so helpful..understanding...n satisfied with smiling faces...
To my surprise the adversity of the situation doesnt affect their level of  contentment!
Today i felt how fake we are....we have all shiny things but nt that smile of fulfillment...
Of all the things we have we go n fight for petty things..we never consider and recognize the value of things we hold..
Whatever was given to them they ate fully with no..nos n no left overs...n were so happy that we brought something for them...
They had no signs of  jealousy...no temptation...no negativity...just those brilliant faces with  warm smiles
Today i realized the importance of being alright and pay gratitude to God to give me an opportunity to live the life i want..full of gadgets...vehicles...n abundance...
Today i realized how blessed they are...they are away from worlds misery...
Today i felt so miserable that i cant carry the way they carry their smile..I m just so mesmerized with the way they deal their loss and the way we deal out nuisance little problems.
Their eyes were so clear n intentions were so pure...we should really learn from them..
Hats off to all the kids...very well behaved n i enjoyed giving them food...watching them talking in their sign language which had deeper impact than our audible ones..hope we be cognizant of the contentment which we have in our lives...

Lamho ke parinde

Lamho ke parinde hai is kadar udd jaate...
Ki hum unse apne pass kuch na rah paate..
Har ek pal saath mein guzra ud jata hai pankh laga ke...
Taras jaate hai jeevan bhar per us lamhe ko vapas jee nahi paate..
Us shaqs ki chhavi reh jaati hai nighao mein per apne zehen me nahi utaaar paate...
Un lamhon meh guzar jaati hain zindagi per sadiyon mein woh pal nahi aate....
Kaash samay aur insaan ki keemat humei pata hoti to shayad unhe rok paate...
Kitna khoya kitna paaya uska hisaab lagaana to mushkil tha..kaash uss lamhe ko khul ke jee paate...
Zindagi ne diya tha mauka...jo woh hamesha deti hai ..kaash uss mauke ko pechan paate...
In parindo ki bhi hoti apni ek duniya...jaha jaker sab hai jama ho jate hai..
Kitna aasan hain in parindo ke liye yaade waha chodna...kyunki hum to chah ke bhi unhe nahi chod paate hai...

Fistful people

I was trying to write on this since last may...but then instead I chose to observe before writing...a lot has been changed since then but my initial thought on this topic stays safe....u really have fistful people in life to rely...but the fists can change too!!! I hope it's implied....if we ask ourselves how many ppl do we have to cry for..to get angry on...to do crazy things with..to shout on...to miss and we will realise not even a fistful...unfortunate yet true...wish God must have trained humans to survive thru this but...our mind...memory and heart are all so squeezed that however much we try we can't please more than fistful people at a time.... Blame game is on ..on both the sides but its the limitation and not characteristics which rules out the ambiguity of the whole scenario...these ppl r u diehard fans...ur real time heroes...ur ferocious enemies and ur best critic ..life becomes beautiful with them...these fistfuls are ur strength and u proudly own them...just try and hold on to them tight....and dnt waste anytime to tell them what they are to u....just express the most coz relationship are like sand ...if u don't hold it tight it just slips away from ur fist....So
Be grateful
Care a lot
&
LOVE

Mum's word

Never did i realise the extent of the effort of a mom until i became one....mum gives , sculpts life and fill it with consciousness all her life...its like a specially triggered creature with traits imbibed with the title called MOM!!! Its said that there is no way to be a  perfect mom and million ways to be a good mom....n believe me all moms are well mastered with each one of them...its an innate nature which breathes in with a child's birth...of 1.5 yrs of my journey ...believe me its totally worth it...the twinkle in my son's eyes wen he sees me across the hall...the careless jump for a hug...the happiness after have found me after a hide n seek game...that cry to see me first after waking up from sleep...keep looking for me n checking me up in lil lil while....holding me tight wen gets hurt or scared...the ways he tell me to sit beside to watch tv....how he has nt started speaking the language but speaks the heart out to me in our own private language...all those sleepless nights...n rough intial days are paid off by a simple smile or a nod...i love u soo much Nivaan....i just cnt tell u .....u r my sunshine..n pls keep shining to make me go in life...

Elective Raising..

This is something i have been seeing for a while....or may be when i m in the shoes...thats why i tumbled upon it...
There are always choices around us...
What we choose makes us what we are..
But the choices once ignored are haunted all over...
I go to parks ...malls everywhere n i hardly see  kids with their mothers...n being a mother i ask myself HOW? do these ladies do that...
I must salute to their courage..
Why we want our responsibilities delegated....
For a little less work...for a little extra effort...for a little more convenience....n a free life as it was before without a kid....
How cn we pass on the most cherishable part of our lives to somebody else...somebody we hardly know....somebody with unfamiliar backgrounds..
Has independence....money...n proving self is more important than raising your own baby...
Is it really Reluctant raisers vs. Enthusiastic ones
No offence to ppl reading it ..who must also be doing it...its a point of view n nt a claim..
But the fact remains....
"Children will not remember you for the material things you provided but for the feeling that you cherished them with."

Kyun??????

Sochti hu ki kyun iss duniya mein kuch paane ke liye kuch khona pata hain....
Kyun kabhi kabhi koi ajnabi apno se bhi zyaada apna lagta hain...
Kyun har manzil ko paane ke liye kuch aur kadam chalna padta hain...
Kyun jazbaato ka mol nahi hota hain...
Kyun chup rehkar bhi bahut kuh bola jaa sakta hain....
Kyun har insaaan hume bahari taur tareeko per parakhta hain...
Kyun aansu bol nahi paate aur beh jaate hain...
Kyun mehnat nahi kismat ko koosa jata hain...
Kyun iss bheed mein bhi har koi tanha reh jaata hain...
Kyun paisa har cheez ka maptol hain...
Kya insaan ka swabhaav kabhi kaam nahi aata hain...
Kyun haq jatane ko .....no space ...ka naam diya jata hain...
Kyun badlaw aata hain...
Kyun har shaqs har samay ek samaan nahi reh paata hain...
Kyun samay har cheez badal pata hain...
Kyun humara bas us per nahi chal pata hain...
Kyun har aaj kharab aur kal (past) accha lagta hain...
Kyun har shaqs ko hum apni bhawnao se khelne ka haq de dete hain...
Iss dil ko itna aitbaar kaise ho jata hain?
Kyun aisa hota hain ki yeh sab jante hue bhi ....humein pyaar ho jata hain..
Kyun dosti ke mayane waqt ke saath kum ho jaate hain...
Kya doston ke dil badal jaate hain?
Kyun sirf akshar pade jaate hain aur aankhen nahi...
Kyun sirf nateeja dekha jaata hain jatan nahi...
Kyun sirf ladai dekhi jaati hain pyaar nahi..
Kyun in sawalon ke mere paas jawab nahi...
